Danny Curran

With a background in Irish Defense Forces operations, Danny has built and managed successful teams across the commercial sales, marketing, training and fundraising fields. He has in-depth experience in generating and optimizing large revenue streams across the public, corporate, trust and Government funding in Ireland (local, national) and internationally (€6.5m). He has a successful track record in developing direct and strategic fundraising partnership agreements across all sectors. Danny is a member of Fundraising Ireland. He hold Diplomas in Business Management as well as Fundraising. Danny is a qualified Medical Practitioner (EMT) and hold qualifications in training.

Giulio Quaggiotto

Giulio was a Senior Programme Manager in Nesta, responsible for advising international development and public sector organisations on the implementation of their innovation strategies. He is currently based in Dubai, working with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Center for Government Innovation. Prior to joining Nesta, Giulio managed the Jakarta Lab of the UN Global Pulse, a flagship innovation initiative of the United Nations Secretary-General on big data for public policy. He also set up UNDP’s first innovation practice with a focus on Eurasia.

Sheetal Walsh

Sheetal advises several socially conscious technology companies so that they can access smart venture capital, corporate partnering, global expansion and PR. Sheetal is Board member at MetaCert and VP of strategic partnerships. With over 15 years experience working in technology, venture capital and social entrepreneurship she has worked with thousands of entrepreneurs around the world. In 2009, she decided to apply her skills to help entrepreneurs in Indian slums and villages to build sustainable businesses by providing mentoring, training, microfinance and promotion of health and well-being. She is a spokesperson on the topic, having presented at Cambridge, LSE, Doha Forum, Big Society, House of Lords, TEDx and other prestigious forums. She is UK Deal Maker (by appointment) for the UK Trade and Investment’s Global Entrepreneur Programme and acts as advisor to London School of Economics Careers team focussing on entrepreneurship.

Marco Zappolorto

Marco is Head of European Development at Nesta , the UK Innovation Foundation. Marco is currently developing a coherent European strategy for the organisation to expand Nesta’s European reach and core partnerships.
Marco is a leading expert for innovation programmes design and he contributed to the initial set-up of Nesta’s Centre for Challenge Prizes. He has led on the design of challenge prizes for the EU Commission, Italian Government, United Nations Development Programme, Everglades Foundation, and the British Government. He has also been bringing together a community of challenge prizes practitioners to expand the Centre’s international reach and identify organisations with whom to generate and share learning and insights on the design and use of prizes. As part of this mission, he has contributed as an expert to several challenge prizes events, workshops and publications. He is also a EU Commission expert on innovation programmes design.
Prior to Nesta, Marco worked for OmniCompete (now Innocentive), managing the execution of prize competitions in the defence and security sectors for both the public sector and industry. Marco holds an MSc in European Political Economy from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Laura Gaviria Halaby

Laura is the Chief Acceleration Officer of TheVentureCity responsible for the Global Equity Tech Accelerator and Incubator and a member of the Fund’s Investment Committee. In addition, Laura is a Senior Digital and Fintech Advisor for the IFC (International Finance Corporation). Previously, Laura held the role of Global Head of Fintech Acceleration at Citi and was responsible for the design and deployment of high impact open innovation initiatives to accelerate Citi’s digital transformation. Before joining Citi, she was a founding partner and CEO of Broker Dealer and Fund Manager, Vision de Valores S.A. She is also a mentor, advisor and angel investor of several startups and a recognised open innovation and Fintech thought leader.
